About Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome.

Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome is an iatrogenesis condition meaning Doctor caused or Doctor produced. It is a condition that comes after having Tubal Ligation surgery. It comes with a wide variety of symptoms, many of which cause a lot of pain, discomfort, and distress for a lot of sufferers.

Women are not informed of PTLS at the time of consent to the Tubal Ligation surgery, nor are they informed of it afterwards.  Many post tubal women are prescribed the pill, and are told it is to regulate their periods.  This is done without being hormone tested first.  Some women are told they are simply depressed, and are prescribed antidepressants, again, without being hormone tested.  Some women are sent to heart specialists because of menopausal effects such as heart palpitations, with still no hormone testing first.   Most are offered and suggested second and third surgeries such as D&C, and Hystorectomy, when really surgery such as Female Reconstructive Surgery (FRS) may be a better solution. 

Put simply, Tubal Ligation is a form of permanent birth control, is labeled and promoted to women as a "band aid" surgery, in the US is in general always performed by an OB-GYN, ACOG Doctor, and carries risks which women are routinely not informed of at the time of consent.

Many doctors will tell you that this condition doesn't exist. Those that do acknowledge it are few and far between.  This is something that has to be changed.  I hope that starting this forum will be a step in that direction.  There are places available that will perform a Tubal Ligation Reversal, but unfortunately, it isn't usually covered by health Insurance and is a rather expensive procedure.
